The Alberta Association of Nurses (AAN) is very pleased to announce Alycia Lobay as our Membership Director, effective September 1, 2022. Alycia is a masters prepared Registered Nurse with extensive experience as an obstetrical nurse, an entrepreneur, and a philanthropist. Alycia’s name and photo may be familiar to you; most recently Alycia was the President of the Alberta Association of Nurses. When asked why she wanted to transition from a volunteer Board President role to an employee of the Association, Alycia responded, “From the moment I got involved with the newly formed association, I knew we were on the brink of something exciting and meaningful for Alberta nurses. Shortly after starting my term as the Inaugural President of AAN, I realized how strong my passion was to make this association successful. To be able to transfer my energy full time into the day-to-day operations as an employee is a dream come true for me.”
As the Membership Director, Alycia looks forward to connecting with every nurse in Alberta and learning how AAN can bring value to members. She is keen for Alberta nurses to strengthen their identity, to connect with their colleagues and for nursing to find its voice on key issues that affect the profession. Kathy Howe, AAN Executive Director, commented, “Alycia’s energy and enthusiasm for nursing and for Alberta’s first profession-inclusive association was evident from the moment I met her. Her passion and dedication to the success of Alberta nurses is evident by the hundreds of volunteer hours she and the rest of the inaugural board directors poured into the start-up of the association.” The Membership Director will focus on member recruitment, retention, and member programs, including monthly
webinars that will start in the fall of 2023.
