The Government Relations Committee (GRC), established in November 2024, is comprised of AAN members who are concerned about nursing issues in Alberta and are interested in advocating for change. Co-chaired by the AAN CEO and an AAN Board Director, the GRC meets every second month, on the fourth Thursday from 1900- 2030 hours, virtually on Teams. Meetings are recorded for members who cannot attend, to view later.

Members have access to advocacy information and resources. GRC members discuss nursing issues, and with the support of a government relations firm, develop strategies to advocate for nursing issues. GRC members are tasked with meeting with their MLAs, up to two times per year, to advocate for nursing issues and to bring resolutions. Members are provided with prepared documents and handouts to share with their MLA.

Together we are advocating for Alberta nurses and the nursing profession.

The GRC is always open to new members. If you are interested in becoming a member, email [email protected] for more information.
