AAN May 2025 webinar: Alberta Nurses’ Perceptions and Experiences of Racism and Discrimination: Implications for Nursing Practice and Leadership

$20.00

Issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are not new to the practice and discipline of nursing. However, there is no Canadian-based evidence to describe perceptions and attitudes of EDI among practising nurses. This webinar will present a study that aimed to measure and understand perceptions and attitudes among Alberta nurses related to EDI. In a cross-sectional mixed methods study, quantitative data were collected to measure the perception and attitudes of Alberta nurses regarding EDI. Descriptive analyses were used to describe the socio-economic characteristics of the Alberta nurses. Inferential analyses examined the relationship between the discrimination scales and the socio-demographic variables. Qualitative data were collected through individual interviews with nurses and analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. In this webinar, we will share results from this study and implications for both nursing practice and nursing leadership. We will also have allotted time for dialogue and discussion regarding study findings and other matters related to EDI that are important for Canadian nurses.
