Nominations: RN & NP representative for Board of Directors

The Alberta Association of Nurses (AAN) is seeking nominations for one Registered Nurse (RN) and one Nurse Practitioner (NP) AAN member to join its Board of Directors.

The AAN Board is a strategic body that sets the direction for the association. It is structured to include two representatives from each nursing designation: Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs), and Nurse Practitioners (NPs).

A vacancy has recently opened for one of the two RN board positions, and an ongoing open NP position, presenting an opportunity for two new members to join the board and serve a term of two years. The elected RN and NP representative will assume their role following the AAN Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Nomination & election process

  • Nomination submission: Interested candidates must complete the nomination form and submit it along with their AAN membership number and the names and membership numbers of two references to [email protected] no later than March 25, 2025 to be included in the nomination process.

  • Nominee presentations: On April 8, from 19:00-21:00, AAN members will have the opportunity to attend a virtual session where RN and NP nominees will deliver brief presentations outlining their qualifications and vision for the role.

  • Voting: The election will take place prior to the AGM on May 2, 2025, and the successful candidate will officially begin their term following the AGM.

This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the leadership and strategic direction of the AAN. We encourage all eligible RN and NP AAN members to consider applying.
