Nurses belong. Together.
January 2022
Hello!
A new professional association for all Alberta nurses is launching — and you are invited to help shape its future.
The Alberta Association of Nurses (AAN) is bringing together Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, as well as student and retired nurses, as one collective voice — a first-of-its-kind for Alberta nurses.
This is an unparalleled and exciting opportunity to combine our many strengths — as individual nurses, across disciplines, in diverse communities, in nursing as a whole — to create a dynamic association where every nurse belongs, every nurse is respected and every nurse can help lead change.
A volunteer Board of Directors is building the AAN’s basic foundation (see names and the FAQ below), and AAN members’ involvement will be key for setting the future agenda.
Your involvement is essential for moving forward. Because AAN will be an organization for and by all Alberta nurses, your ideas, concerns and priorities will ensure it benefits all members — and that AAN contributes to the advancement of nursing and improved health and well-being for everyone we care for.
These are the early “building” days for AAN, and a full formal launch is planned for next May. By joining today — and encouraging your friends and colleagues to do so as well — you will be on the ground floor, helping to decide who and what AAN will be.
Please visit albertanursing.ca for more information, join the association today, and take a moment to share this news with friends and colleagues through your social media accounts.
There is no doubt that this is a challenging time for nurses — and nursing — across Alberta. That also makes this the perfect time to embark on a new journey with AAN.
Together, we will be a positive force for change for ourselves, our profession and all Albertans.
Sincerely,
AAN Board of Directors
